Florence May Sampayo A.K.A. Foni (nee Madara) of Maple Shade, NJ passed away on September 27, 2024 at the age of 67, but her larger than life personality will never be forgotten. Although she had faced many health issues over the last several months she never gave up. Where anyone else would have broken, she would stay strong and continue to smile. Quick witted and always greeting everyone with a warm welcoming smile, her eyes and her sense of humor would light up any room the moment she arrived. She grew up in Pennsauken and enjoyed the 1970’s and 80’s hanging out with her friends at Lena’s Café, drinking Heineken and Dewar’s, blasting Rod Stewart music, and most especially her green 1968 Ford Mustang. Every time she got behind the wheel of that car her driving skills and insatiable desire to speed took over and earned her multiple points and tickets, and eventually a governor was installed in the car to “TRY” to slow her down…and no It did not work. Foni’s favorite flower was tulips and in her later years, she loved watching TV. She always enjoyed the Olympics but her favorite sport was ice hockey. She was a diehard Philadelphia Flyers fan spending many hockey nights screaming at the TV and either calling or texting her brother Chuck about the game. Along with hockey, her favorite TV shows were Joyce Meyer Ministries, Fox News (specifically Greg Gutfeld, Tyrus and Jesse Watters), The Golden Girls, Last Man Standing, Judge Judy, On Patrol Live, COPS, and old movies especially the ones with Humphrey Bogart and Clark Gable. She was a master trivia player particularly in the subjects of music and entertainment. However, the greatest love in her heart was for her children, grandchildren and family and her dog Harley who passed away in 2015 and I’m sure Harley was the first to greet her in heaven. She leaves behind many family members and friends who will love and miss her forever. Foni is survived by her 2 children and 5 grandchildren: son Nick Sampayo and his fiancé Amanda and their daughter Lily May, daughter Jaclyn Madara-Lentz and her husband Bill Lentz their children Gavvin, Giavanna, Monroe and Montgomery. In addition to her children, she is also survived by her siblings: brother Skip Madara and Jean his wife and sons Skip Jr (Mellanie), Duke and George, brother Jim Madara and Donna his wife their son Jesse and daughter Dillan (Dan) DiMonte, brother Chuck Madara and Joan his wife and their children Christopher (Jacqueline), Mark (Sarah), daughter Kaitlin (Hunter) and her sister and care giver Sandie (Madara) Oliver and her daughters Brittany (Donato) Liberto, and Meghan Oliver. Foni was also the loving Great Aunt of 5 nephews. A celebration of Foni’s life will be announced at a later date.
